This is just a simple page with some tests I have made with converting HDV material from a Canon HV20 camera to SD DVD.

I will post the original untouched HDV file along with the converted material. And you can see for yourself if this is good or not.

First i have a shaky footage of a horce race. (There is a need for investing in a good tripod!! :) )But this is just for converting tests...

The first file is the original file, captured with HDVSPLIT.
Download : race_original.m2t (129Mb)

Converted from a Edius HDV timeline with Procoder Express, 9100VBR 2 pass, upper field, 16:9 directly to VOB files:
Download: race_HD2VOB (45Mb) (due to some strange downloadproblem, change to .vob after the download)

Converted from a Edius HDV timeline with Procoder Express, 9100VBR 2 pass, upper field, 16:9 to .m2p
Download race_HD2SDm2p.txt (45Mb) (due to some strange downloadproblem, change to .m2p after the download)

Personally i really cant see a notisable diffrence between the two conversions, not when looking at them seprataly anyway, maybe it is there if you look close enough, but with this conversion method, no diff.... I think... :)

And below a finished result in a .m2p file, that is showing the shimmering problem, look at the ground behind William in the picture and you will see it.
Download wiljonm2p.txt (16,5Mb) (due to some strange downloadproblem, change to .m2p after the download)
And the original m2t file you can see here...
Download: Wiljon.m2t ( 35.5Mb)

So... is theese convertion results what I could expect or would it be possible to do a better conversion result some other way...?

I have tried to set the Edius timeline to SD DVD before converting, but I honestly cant see any diffrence in doing that...

I have also tried importing footage with canopus HQ avi's but i cant see any diffrence in that either....

/end of, for now
